Company: Hartman Outdoor Products Ltd

Issue

The client had multiple leaks from the flat roof that had caused the internal plasterboard ceiling to collapse. The existing felt roof was approximately 25 years old and was beginning to fail in several areas. There were also additional leaks from the glass skylights.

Solution

The roof was prepared by removing all stone chippings and applying a coat of felting Primer. A single layer of 4.5mm Sappi Overlay felt was laid offering the client a 15 year manufacturers guarantee. The glass sky light covers were renewed using new GRP skylights.

Issue

The client had numerous leaks into the building as well as poor natural light. During our survey we established that the existing roof lights were made of glass, something we had never seen before. More importantly they were hanging on in place millime-tres between the steel purlins. After our visit one of the roof lights dropped smashing to pieces on the floor below.

Solution

The underside of the roof was fully netted and the old glass rooflights removed. The asbestos roof sheets in between the rooflights were also removed, safely lowered to the ground and removed from site by a licenced asbestos waste carrier. 108 new GRP roof lights were installed and the difference in the natural light was welcomed by the client.

Issue

During heavy downpours rainwater was running off the feature flashing at the gutter line and down the front of the building. This was causing unsightly dirty marks down the feature flashing and also soaking clients as they entered the main reception.

Solution

We had manufactured and installed a bespoke colour matched top flashing that had a fall back into the main roof gutter. This eradicated the staining down the feature flashing and insured their clients and staff were dry when entering the reception.

Issue

The Fascia, Soffit and guttering was in a poor condition around the whole of the building. There were perished section of timber and the property looked unsightly and tired.

Solution

Replace the wooden fascia and soffit for new UPVC fascia and soffit and replace the old standard guttering for new deep flow guttering and downpipes. Re-clad the front of the building using UPVC cladding planks.

Issue

The client had numerous leaks into the building caused by perished roof lights. There had been several poor attempts at re-solving the leaks without success.

Solution

We replaced the old fibreglass rooflights with new GRP roof lights to two sides of the roof. This cured the leaks and hugely im-proved the natural light into the warehouse, welcomed by our client.

Issue

The client had removed a redundant machine out of the main warehouse leaving two holes in the cement fibre sheets where the flu’s had passed though.

Solution

Rather than remove the existing cement fibre sheets which is extremely costly, we overlaid them using GRP overlay sheets. This offers a cost effective watertight solution that can be carried out from mechanical access.

Issue

The client has a concrete structured warehouse that was suffering numerous leaks from the concrete valley gutters. The leak-ing rainwater was beginning to erode the surface of the concrete supporting beams and required attention.

Solution

We cleaned out the run of valley gutters and primed them using an EPDM priming solution. We then installed a fully bonded 2.5mm thick EPDM Liner. The EPDM liner has is estimated to last 40-50 years.

We completed the worst three bays on the warehouse totalling 432sqm and the client is looking to complete more of the roof in affordable stages.
